Lyon turned up the heat on Monaco in the battle for second spot in Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory over Amiens on Saturday.

Mariano Diaz's first-half strike set the hosts on their way and late goals from Memphis Depay and Bertrand Traore wrapped up the points for Bruno Genesio's side at the Groupama Stadium.

Lyon's fifth successive league win moves them to within four points of second-placed Monaco, who go to Paris St-Germain on Sunday in a match which could see the leaders clinch the title.

Diaz, Depay and Traore have been a prolific attacking triumvirate for Lyon this season, and they took their combined tally to 51 goals between them in all competitions as Amiens' four-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Lyon are also now guaranteed a top-four finish at the very least - as are Marseille immediately below them - after fifth-placed Rennes surprisingly lost at home to rock-bottom Metz.

Benjamin Bourigeaud gave Rennes a 28th-minute lead but Nolan Roux struck twice in five second-half minutes to earn Metz only their sixth win of the campaign.

The result leaves Rennes 16 points behind Marseille with only 15 left available for Sabri Lamouchi's men, while at the other end of the table Metz move to within five points of safety.

Second-bottom Lille should also have been celebrating a much-needed victory but they conceded twice in stoppage-time to draw 2-2 at home with Guingamp.

Nicolas Pepe's 56th-minute opener and Luiz Araujo's strike two minutes later put Lille in control, but a Junior Alonso own goal and Jimmy Briand's effort robbed them of two vital points.

Mathieu Debuchy struck the only goal of the game seven minutes from time as St Etienne edged out Strasbourg while Nantes and Dijon shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Prejuce Nakoulma put Nantes ahead in the first half but Kwon Chang-hoon levelled after the break.

The game between Caen and Toulouse was postponed due to inclement weather.
