Gelson Martins and Rony Lopes scored first-half goals as Monaco edged further away from relegation trouble in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win against Lyon.

Winger Martins and midfielder Lopes put Monaco in control early in the game, while Lyon striker Memphis Depay's second-half penalty was saved.

Monaco, who began the day two points above the bottom three, have leapfrogged Amiens into 16th place.

They have won three and drawn one of their last four league games under Leonardo Jardim, who was reappointed boss after Thierry Henry was sacked in January after just three months in charge.

Lyon, who held Barcelona to a goalless draw in their Champions League tie in midweek, remain third, but are now five points behind second-placed Lille after losing two of their last three league matches.

Marseille lost ground on the top four as they were held 1-1 at Rennes.

Valere Germain headed a second-half equaliser for Marseille after Benjamin Andre's early header had given the home side a half-time lead.

Visiting defender Jordan Amavi was shown a straight red card in stoppage time for his foul on Rennes' Adrien Hunou.

Marseille, who have taken 10 points from their last four league games, are two points behind fourth-placed St Etienne, who won 1-0 at Dijon on Friday.

Reims leapfrogged Montpellier into sixth place, level on points with Marseille, after Remi Oudin's double helped them to a 4-2 win at Stade de la Mosson.

Oudin cancelled out Daniel Congre's early opener for Montpellier before Reims regained the lead through Arber Zeneli's penalty early in the second half, for Benjamin Lecomte's foul on Boulaye Dia.

Gaetan Laborde equalised for Montpellier, but Oudin drilled home his second and Pablo Chavarria wrapped up the points for the visitors in the closing stages.

Nicolas Pallois scored the only goal as Nantes beat Bordeaux 1-0 at home and Max Gradel's stoppage-time free-kick rescued Toulouse a 1-1 home draw against Caen.

Caen, third bottom, led through Enzo Crivelli's strike at the end of the first half, but after home midfielder Ismael Diomande was sent off in time added on for his second booking, Gradel fired the resulting free-kick into the bottom corner.
