Former France international willing to help Ligue 1 basement boys
Bernard Mendy has revealed that he could soon be on his way to Ligue 1 strugglers Arles-Avignon.
The full-back is currently a free agent after being released by Hull City at the end of last season.
The 29-year-old is training with Caen in an effort to maintain his fitness, but is keeping his options open regarding a permanent switch elsewhere.
Reports suggest Arles are willing to offer Mendy a trial, keen to bring his considerable experience on board, and the former France international admits he would be interested in discussing such a deal.
"I am waiting for offers," he told
RMC.
"I am keen to come back and play in France. Going abroad again is not my preferred option.
"I have a lot of experience and I believe I could help any club having a few difficulties.
"Recently Arles-Avignon have been named and we will see what happens there this week."
Reinforcements
Another man who could soon be penning terms with Arles is Gregory Vignal, with the former Liverpool defender training with the club.
He is available on a free after cancelling his contract at Greek outfit Atromitos Athens and would provide further defensive cover for Faruk Hadzibegic.
Arles are in need of reinforcement at the back after allowing Spaniard Alvaro Perez Mejia to join Turkish outfit Konyaspor.
The 28-year-old only moved to France last summer but struggled to adapt to life in Ligue 1 and has been allowed to move on.
