Charvet in Sochaux talks
FORMER Manchester City defender Laurent Charvet is in talks with Sochaux as he aims to resurrect his career.
Charvet had his contract cancelled at Maine Road in October after two years at the club following his arrival from Newcastle United.
But following Kevin Keegan's appointment as manager in the summer of 2001, Charvet made just three appearances for the ex-England boss, the last being 16 months ago.
The 29-year-old is discussing a move to Sochaux with coach Guy Lacombe and will be anxious to earn a return to Le Championnat.
Sochaux sporting director Bernard Genghini confirmed negotiations were ongoing but a deal had not yet been agreed.
"Guy Lacombe has spoken to Charvet several times on the telephone during the past couple of months," said Genghini.
"But nothing has been decided for the time being."
