Bazdarevic sacked by rock-bottom Ligue 1 outfit after poor results

Sochaux coach Mecha Bazdarevic has paid the price for a dismal series of results by being axed on Tuesday. The Bosnian received the sack after less than nine months in charge with Sochaux sitting rock-bottom of Ligue 1, five points off safety. The club have failed to win in 13 Ligue 1 games stretching back to 6th November, picking up just four points. After the latest 1-1 home draw against Valenciennes at the weekend, the club have decided to make a change in a bid to preserve their top flight status. A statement on their official website said: "Something needed to be done and so FC Sochaux have decided to make a change. "Mecha Bazdarevic is no longer the team's coach." Midfielder Bazdarevic made more than 300 appearances for the club during his playing days and began his managerial career at the club as an assistant and also a coach of the reserve squad.
