Makoun leaves door ajar

Jean Makoun remains open to a move away from Lille before the end of August.

Jean Makoun remains open to a move away from Lille, but insists he is still focused on his current club.

The Cameroon international has been linked with a switch to Manchester United after impressing against the Premiership club in last season's UEFA Champions League.

Earlier in the summer, the midfielder was being lined up for a £10 million transfer to French champions Lyon.

Though that deal has yet to materialise, Makoun admits it is still possible he could move on from Lille before the transfer deadline.

"Everybody can leave and it is always flattering to be solicited by big clubs," Makoun told Lille's official website.

"I am happy to be here, but we never know what can happen until August 31st.

"I am focused on my objective with LOSC because a contract should be respected."

Makoun's immediate priority is to help Lille qualify for the group stage of the Champions League after enjoying playing in the competition last term.

He added: "We will try to finish at the top of the league, to reach the first spot.

"We want to qualify for another Champions League because we have known good moments last year."
