Full-back becomes the latest Lille star to sign a contract extension

Mathieu Debuchy has signed a contract extension at Lille which will keep him at the club until 2015. The full-back has played a leading role for the club this season in their pursuit of the Ligue 1 title. He has recently passed seven years of senior service for Lille, having made his debut in January 2004. A product of the club's academy system, he has been on their books since 1993.

Confident

He becomes the fourth player to pen fresh terms this season - following the lead of captain Rio Mavuba, defender Franck Beria and goalkeeper Mikael Landreau. The current leaders of the French top flight are now hoping that the highly-rated Eden Hazard will follow suit. The youngster has attracted plenty of interest of late, but Lille are confident they can convince him to extend a contract which already runs until 2014. Frederic Pacquet, the club's financial director, has also revealed that coach Rudi Garcia is set to commit his long-term future to the club.
