Nancy have made it clear that any club wishing to purchase Youssouf Hadji will have to part with €7million (£5.8m).
The Morocco international is believed to be interesting Bordeaux and Monaco during the January transfer window, with imminent approaches said to be in the pipeline.
The 30-year-old, who is the younger brother of former Aston Villa and Coventry midfielder Mustapha Hadji, is currently in his second spell at Nancy.
He began his career with the Ligue 1 outfit after graduating through their youth system and returned to the club in 2007 following stints at Bastia and Rennes.
Standards
Hadji is regarded as one of the most complete midfielders in France, with his creative ability and keen eye for goal marking him out as a useful asset to any side.
Nancy accept that the standards set by their skipper will inevitably lead to speculation regarding his future, but insist they are not prepared to part with him on the cheap.
Club chairman Jacques Rousselot has been quick to reiterate that stance, revealing that there is no room for negotiation in the asking price that has been set.
"Hadji? It is €7million and nothing less," he told
