RB Leipzig have rejected an £85.4m bid from Real Madrid for Yan Diomande, Sky Sports News understands.

The offer was for an initial fee of £76.9m, plus £8.5m in add-ons.

According to Sky Germany, Real Madrid are in negotiations with RB Leipzig to strike an agreement for the winger, with the club currently in pole position for the Ivory Coast international. Real Madrid have now also agreed personal terms with Diomande.

Madrid have been active in this window following the return of Jose Mourinho as Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella have all been snapped up.

Liverpool have also expressed an interest in winger Diomande but aren't willing to pay more than £85m.

Paris St-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester City also remain interested in Diomande.

With six weeks left of the transfer window, the situation has been described as an open race by sources close to any potential deal. Real have now come to the table with an offer amid uncertainty around the future of Vinicius Junior.

The fee Liverpool are ready to pay at this stage would dwarf the Premier League's record transfer for a teenager, surpassing the £58.9m Manchester United agreed to sign Leny Yoro from Lille for in the summer of 2024.

However, Diomande indicated a preference to move to PSG earlier this summer and has already agreed a contract with them until 2031, but Leipzig will only sell for an exceptional fee.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has held talks with the German club.

Yan Diomande opens up about his football journey so far, including trials at Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Crystal Palace

"Everything went fast," says Yan Diomande. Indeed, it is extraordinary now to think that this time last year Diomande's entire senior career amounted to half a dozen starts for Leganes at the back end of last season as they were relegated from LaLiga.

He scored in two of those six games, against Espanyol and Valladolid. Even his team did not find the net in the other four. But the teenager did enough to persuade RB Leipzig to part with €20m to bring him to the Bundesliga. Once there, he has been a revelation.

Thrilling to watch and impossible to defend, Diomande is lightning, full of unpredictable enterprise. He has the things that cannot be coached and by listening to the things that can he is getting better. The very biggest clubs want him. The rest cannot afford him.
