FFC Frankfurt beat PSG 2-1 to win Women's Champions League

Mandy Islacker came off the bench to score a dramatic stoppage time equaliser as FFC Frankfurt beat Paris Saint Germain 2-1 to win a record fourth European title.

Frankfurt took a first-half lead in the Women's Champions League final through Germany international Celia Sasic, who netted her record-equalling 14th goal of the competition when she headed in a Kerstin Garefrekes cross.

But five minutes before half-time PSG were back on level terms when Marie-Laure Delie prodded home from a short corner.

With the game looking as though it was heading towards extra time, Dzsenifer Marozsan delivered a cross which was brilliantly met on the half-volley by Islacker, who smashed home the winner with seconds left to play.

After the game, Sasic told UEFA’s official website: “These are the kind of matches you like, especially winning it at the end. We managed to win it, and that's great, we were the ones who won in the end, we didn't lose in the last minutes as has happened to us in the past. This time we are the winners, and I think deservedly.

Islacker added: “It means a lot, because I haven't won any trophies in my career so far, so I am really happy that it worked out well. I still can't believe it [scoring the winner], I think [it will sink in] later on, or in a few days. I still can't really believe it.”
