Valencia eased the pressure on coach Nuno Espirito Santo by thrashing high-flying Celta Vigo 5-1 to record their biggest win of the season on Saturday.
Paco Alcacer opened the scoring in the La Liga clash at Balaidos after just 12 minutes, although Augusto Fernandez levelled midway through the first half as the hosts began to reassert themselves.
But Valencia captain Dani Parejo scored a wonder goal on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors a lead they did not deserve and then Alcacer struck again a minute after the break to put the visitors well in charge.
Parejo, with his second, and Shkrodan Mustafi heaped further misery on Eduardo Berizzo's men later in the half.
Eibar continue their remarkable march up the Primera Division table after beating 10-man Getafe 3-1 at their Ipurua Stadium.
Sergi Enrich scored twice for the Basque outfit either side of a Victor Rodriguez goal for the visitors, and then Saul Berjon scored from the penalty spot after Damian Suarez had been sent off, securing the win and sending Jose Luis Mendilibar's side up to sixth.
Meanwhile, Getafe meanwhile suffered a third straight defeat and stay 15th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Javi Guerra continued his excellent goalscoring form by firing 10-man Rayo Vallecano to a 2-1 win over struggling Granada in Vallecas.
The striker scored twice in the opening 10 minutes to put Paco Jemez's men in charge against former Rayo boss Jose Ramon Sandoval's side, who pulled a goal back in the second half through Jean-Sylvester Babin.
Even though the visitors played the majority of the game with an extra man following Ze Castro's dismissal on 19 minutes, they were unable to find an equaliser and stay second bottom of the Primera Division, on seven points and still without a win since August.
Levante came from behind to draw 1-1 with Deportivo La Coruna and earn their first La LIga point under new coach Rubi.
Lucas Perez had given the visitors the lead midway through the first half against the run of play, but Levante's energetic approached paid off after half-time, with Victor Camarasa levelling with a free-kick.
The draw is not enough to take Levante off the bottom of the table but is an improvement on Rubi's baptism of fire at the Mestalla, where his side lost 3-0 to local rivals Valencia, and they are just two points from escaping the relegation zone.
In the late game, veteran striker Ruben Castro's fifth goal in six games earned Real Betis a 1-0 victory over Malaga.
The 34-year-old coolly finished in the 64th minute to end Betis' three-game winless run and move them into the top half of the table.
