Under-pressure Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez faces a tricky trip to high-flying Eibar on Sunday, with his side in need of a win to close a nine-point gap behind leaders Barcelona.

Club president Florentino Perez backed Benitez on Monday following their 4-0 home humbling at the hands of Barca in 'El Clasico' last Saturday.

Los Blancos did at least get back to winning ways in midweek, albeit in nervous fashion as they conceded three late goals in a 4-3 win at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

Real started the season looking very solid defensively, but they have now conceded 10 goals in three games and have injury worries at the back against Eibar with Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo all injured.

"We will work with the players that we have available and try and get the absentees back as soon as possible," said Benitez.

"It is difficult to say how long the players are going to be out as it depends how they respond to treatment but I have full confidence in Pepe and Nacho."

Benitez believes the performance in Donetsk did display hope ahead of their clash against sixth-placed Eibar, who could move to within a point of their opponents if they cause an upset.

"They are in good form and it is a difficult place to go," added Benitez.

"In the game against Shakhtar we showed that when we are concentrated we can score four goals away from home against a strong team. If we do things as we know how to, we can play like we did during our 14-game unbeaten run (to start the season)."
