It was a frantic final minute at the Mestalla with both Real Madrid and Valencia having chances to win the game

It was a frantic final minute at the Mestalla on Sunday as Real Madrid and Valencia pushed for a late winner in an enthralling La Liga clash.

In what turned out to be one of the games of the Spanish season to date, Gary Neville's Valencia threw hammer and tong at 10-man Real in an attempt to earn their manager a maiden league victory in Spain.

With Mateo Kovacic having been dismissed for a lunge on Joao Cancelo, Los Che spurned a glorious chance to snatch victory at the death as Alvaro Negredo missed a one-on-one with Keylor Navas.

And, to add to the drama, Real almost made Valencia pay, going straight up the other end as Gareth Bale wasted a similarly glaring chance to earn his side, and beleaguered Rafa Benitez, the victory.
