#RevistaPredictor getting tight at the top as Kevin Keatings closes gap
Friday 22 September 2017 08:31, UK
The race for the #RevistaPredictor title got a bit tasty on Matchday five, with Kevin Keatings making up significant ground on early leader Rob Palmer.
ATHLETIC 1-2 ATLETICO MADRID
Frustratingly, I was on the brink of six points for guessing the right first goalscorer, with Aritz Aduriz taking a penalty in the 41st minute for Athletic, debatable as it was but Jan Oblak's save meant instead I ended pointless, having predicted a draw in this game. Everyone else went for an Atletico win, with Driscoll, Keatings and Phillips getting the scoreline spot on, so that's four points apiece.
DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA 1-0 ALAVES
Five games, five defeats, no goals scored; that's Alavés' plight right now after Luisinho got the only goal of the game at El Riazor - it meant that myself and Kevin got four points for the exact scoreline, Jon and David got the outcome right, but none of us picked first goalscorer yet again.
It's often tougher with the weaker teams, and at least Deportivo have alleviated the pressure on Pepe Mel for the time being.
VILLARREAL 0-0 ESPANYOL
This is where the luck ran out for everyone. Nothing doing for anyone here...the Predictor bites back when you least expect it.
A goalless draw at the Estadio de la Cerámica stumped all the experts, who all went for a Villarreal victory - understandable enough after their recent scoring spree. But Quique Sánchez Flores has always made his sides tough to beat, and so it proved on Thursday night.
All of this means that Rob's lead has been trimmed to just a single point, Jon is running solo in third, while the two Davids' continue to fight it out to avoid the wooden spoon.
Now to your shoutouts, and a number of you did really well this week, with a tough set of fixtures to try and forecast. Here are the truly outstanding tweeters:
@IrishMadridismo successfully guessed the score lines in the Athletic-Atlético and Deportivo-Alavés games - eight points, while @alex_farrar got Angel Correa as first goalscorer at San Mamés - six points.
Next games will be released Friday teatime - look out on the @SkyRevista Twitter feed.
