#RevistaPredictor Matchday 12: Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid included

Revista Predictor

There are three decent fixtures to forecast as La Liga returns, with #RevistaPredictor heading into Matchday 12.  David Garrido has more...

There was always one game that had to go into the chosen trio this weekend, and that's, of course, the Madrid derby. The Predictor otherwise has served up a battle for European places and a relegation scrap, so the teams involved are well spread out across the table.

MATCH 1 - SEVILLA v CELTA VIGO

Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo comes up against his former side who have been doing better of late under Juan Carlos Unzue - The question for Sevilla is have they discovered who they are yet? And will Berizzo rotate again? He's yet to stick to the same starting eleven in La Liga this season.

Everyone except me thinks the home side will have worked themselves out and take the points, but I just have a sneaky feeling that Celta will get something out of this game, with Iago Aspas playing further up the pitch and rediscovering the form he enjoyed last season. Three pundits - Driscoll, Keatings and Phillips - reckon it'll be Wissam Ben Yedder who opens the scoring. It could be a tight game.

MATCH 2 - ATLETICO v REAL MADRID

Neither of the Spanish capital's major teams have particularly impressed this campaign. Atletico seem to have lost their bulldog spirit and haven't evolved - if anything they're going backwards - whereas Real Madrid have struggled to really get any consistency or form, and the two league defeats to Real Betis and Girona have hit them hard.

That could make for a nervy encounter, and it's interesting that no-one is backing Atleti to win, with three experts going for a 1-1 draw, and the two Davids and Jon going for Cristiano Ronaldo as first goalscorer. Whoever loses - if there is a loser - can probably wave goodbye to their title challenge, with Barcelona away to Leganes earlier on Saturday.

MATCH 3 - MALAGA v DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA

Malaga have too many good players and too good a coach to go down. Well, that's the assertion, and this is the sort of game that they need to win to prove it right. Michel's side are still bottom having only won one in 11 in La Liga, whereas Deportivo seem to have picked up after Cristobal Parralo replaced the hapless Pepe Mel.

They only just lost last time out at home to Atletico, and maybe Parralo will find a way of getting the best from the Lucas Perez and Florin Andone partnership. Kevin and I have opted for the former Arsenal striker to get the first goal and all three match outcomes are covered here, with Rob and Jon angling for that 10-point-maximum with a goalless draw at La Rosaleda.

The table is spread out, but as we saw on Matchdays 10 and 11, significant movement is possible, especially with a correct first goalscorer.
