Sevilla v Real Madrid preview: Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out of midweek clash

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be fit to play in Wednesday's La Liga clash with Sevilla due to an ankle injury.

The club's all-time record goalscorer was replaced at half-time during Sunday's 2-2 Clasico draw with Barcelona after being injured while scoring his side's first equaliser.

While he won't feature against Sevilla or against Celta Vigo on Saturday, manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed he could return for the final game against Villarreal and will definitely be available for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Zidane said: "It's incredible that he's already walking after 48 hours.

"That shows his ambition, his desire to want to play. It would be perfect if he was able to play against Villarreal.

"It's a sprain, but there's not damage to the fibula. The ankle is stable."

Isco has returned to training, but will miss the game, as will the injured Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid will move above Atletico Madrid into second place if they win their game in hand on Wednesday night, but Zidane is expecting a tough test.

He said: "We have three La Liga games to go and tomorrow we will give our all. We hope to end up as high up the table as possible.

"It is a chance to get three points, but we know that they want to play their game. You are about to see a special match and that is the important factor."

For Sevilla, Sergio Escudero, Ever Banega and Sergio Rico will be available, despite minor injury concerns.

Simon Kjaer and Sebastein Corchia were both fit to train fully ahead of the game, but Jesus Navas will miss out through injury.
