Barca midfielder out for two months with thigh injury

Andres Iniesta has been forced to withdraw from the Spain squad for the Confederations Cup due to a thigh injury. The Barcelona midfielder had initially picked up the problem early last month, but recovered to feature in the UEFA Champions League final. He produced an inspirational performance as Barca beat Manchester United 2-0 to complete a historic treble after also winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey. However, Iniesta aggravated his thigh problem and he now faces up to two months on the sidelines. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has called up Valencia's Pablo Hernandez to replace Iniesta in his squad for the Confederations Cup in South Africa which starts on 14th June. The European champions will face New Zealand in their opening group fixture before tackling Iraq and hosts South Africa.
