Spaniard arrives from Espanyol and pens four-year deal
Sevilla have snapped up highly-rated defender Sergio Sanchez from Espanyol on a four-year contract.
Sanchez, who is at home either at right-back or in the centre of defence, only established himself in the Espanyol side last season despite making his debut in April 2005.
The 23-year-old was initially loaned out to Real Madrid's reserve side in Spain's lower leagues before a season with Racing Santander in 2007/08.
However, the former Spain Under-21 international saw his form last term earn him a move to Andalucía and he is keen to help the club win some silverware this campaign.
"I'm very happy because Sevilla is the team where I want to be, for the fans, for the team, for the city, everything, for it's a pleasure to be at Sevilla."
Sanchez added on
SFC Radio: "The chance to play in the Champions League with Sevilla is a real prize.
"The squad did very well last season and were rewarded with third place. I've come here with lots of hope and motivation and I'm ready to help the club achieve the aims they have set.
"This team aspires to win everything."
