Muniain scores Bilbao winner; Sociedad move clear of trouble

Athletic Bilbao came from behind to beat Osasuna 2-1 in the Basque derby, while Espanyol drew 2-2 with Atletico Madrid. Iker Muniain scored a last-gasp winner to boost Bilbao's European aspirations. Osasuna had taken the lead six minutes after the break when Kike Sola found the net and things got worse for Bilbao just before the hour mark when Xavi Castillo was sent off. Fernando Llorente grabbed the equaliser for Bilbao with a header on 69 minutes with his 16th league goal of the season. Bilbao netted an unlikely winner in stoppage time when Muniain capitalised on a terrible mistake from Osasuna keeper Ricardo to fire the ball home into an empty net. Espanyol twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid at Cornella. Koke gave Atletico a dream start with the opener after just 78 seconds following some dreadful defending by the hosts, but Dani Osvaldo levelled for Espanyol with a deflected strike lon 38 minutes. Sergio Aguero restored Atletico's lead early in the second half with a neat finish, but Osvaldo equalised for a second time with a fine header just before the hour mark. Levante moved into ninth spot with a 2-1 home win over struggling Hercules. Goals from Ruben Suarez (4) and Juanlu Lopez (43) put Levante in firm control. David Trezeguet pulled a goal back for Hercules seven minutes from time, but Levante held on to take all three points. The defeat leaves Herculess econd from bottom, three points from safety with six games left in the campaign. Real Sociedad moved further clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table with a 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon. Antoine Griezmann fired Sociedad in front on 32 minutes only for De las Cuevas to draw Sporting level on 70 minutes. However, French ace Griezmann had the final word with the winner for Sociedad ten minutes from time. Deportivo La Coruna boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 victory over Racing Santander at La Riazor. Lassad Nouioui broke the deadlock right on the stroke of half-time and Xisco added a second three minutes into the second half to move Deportivo five points clear of the drop zone.
