Brazilian's contract situation puts European clubs on alert

Leading European clubs have been put on alert after highly-rated Brazilian Ganso turned down the offer of a new contract at Santos. The 22-year-old playmaker remains under contract until February 2015 but Santos had been keen for him to sign a longer-term deal to given them even greater security. However, Ganso, who has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the two Milan clubs, was not impressed by what was on offer. He is happy to keep his options open at the current time and will stay focused on his football while his future takes care of itself. "I didn't like the offer, I thought they would offer something better," he told reporters. "Regardless of that, you have to keep your cool to play football and let things happen naturally. "I don't know what can happen, only God knows it. I hope I can remain calm to keep playing football." According to reports, Ganso was offered a deal by Santos worth around £112,000 a month.
