Real Sociedad have sacked Jagoba Arrasate following a disappointing start to the campaign that has left the club in the Primera Division drop zone.

The Basque club have won just one of their opening 10 league fixtures while they were eliminated from the Europa League before the group stages following a humiliating defeat to Russian side Krasnodar in August.

Arrasate failed to win a single game in September and October and it appears a 1-0 home defeat to Malaga on Saturday was the final straw for the Sociedad board.

"Real Sociedad have decided to relieve Jagoba Arrasate of his duties as first-team coach," said a statement on the club's official website.
