Barca target Juve striker
After a series of fitful and frustrating seasons, Barca are enjoying a sustained period of good form in the second half of the current campaign and the Camp Nou faithful could soon be welcoming the powerful Frenchman.
The Catalan giants have been linked to a host of Europe's best strikers and, having landed Ronaldinho in the summer, president Joan Laporta will be keen to add another star to the glittering array of talent already at coach Frank Rijkaard's disposal.
Trezeguet, a reported target for Premiership outfit Arsenal, has been in constant discussion with Juventus regarding his contract that expires in June 2005 but, as yet, there is little to suggest that the situation is close to being resolved.
The player's father and agent, Jorge Trezeguet, claims that his son is merely looking to clarify his future before the 2004 European Championships.
''We don't want to create any trouble with Juventus officials,'' admitted Trezeguet Senior.
''We just wish that they would honour their words, to renegotiate David's contract conditions in light of sporting success.
''Juventus have won the Italian Championship twice and reached the UEFA Champions League final, whilst David was the best Calcio striker in 2002.''
Juventus and Barcelona are already in talks over the proposed permanent transfer of Dutch scrapper Edgar Davids and it now appears credible that Trezeguet could be joining his Juve team-mate in Spain next season.
It has been reported that officials from both clubs met in London earlier this month at an official Fifa reception, where a possible swap deal was mooted - involving one of Patrick Kluivert, Gabri, Thiago Motta or Javier Saviola heading to Stadio Delle Alpi in exchange for Trezeguet.
