Sevilla were down to 10 men after just one minute against Espanyol and to make matters worse, Sevilla legend Jose Antonio Reyes took the resulting penalty

Sevilla suffered a nightmare start against Espanyol on Sunday as they were reduced to 10 men after just one minute of their La Liga clash.

Needing a victory to keep pace with Real Madrid at the top of the table, Sevilla saw Nicolas Pareja dismissed for bringing down Pablo Piatti in the box, before their former player Jose Antonio Reyes stepped up to slot home from the resulting penalty.

Despite being a man down, Sevilla recovered well and levelled later on in the first half through Stevan Jovetic, who netted for the third time in four appearances since joining the club on loan from Inter Milan.

But the extra man told for Espanyol as they took the lead again just before the break via Marc Navarro before Gerard Moreno made it 3-1.

It had been a great start to Sunday for Sevilla, after Barcelona had dropped two points earlier in the day with a 1-1 draw at Real Betis.
