Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal has apologised for swearing at Barcelona fans during Saturday's El Clasico at the Nou Camp.
The Spain international defender was pictured raising a finger at the Barca supporters as Real celebrated the late Sergio Ramos goal which earned them a 1-1 draw.
Carvajal expressed his regret for his actions in a Twitter post on Sunday, while suggesting the gesture had been intended for a group of fans who had been taunting him.
"I'd like to apologize for the gesture to a portion of the fans, responding to insults," Carvajal wrote.
"It's something that shouldn't be done."
Nonetheless, the 24-year-old could be punished by the authorities if he is found guilty of inciting the Barcelona support.
Ramos' equaliser ensured that Real retained their six point advantage at the top of the La Liga standings.
