Sergio Ramos banned for one game after red card against Barcelona

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has been suspended for one game following his red card in their Clasico defeat to Barcelona.

Ramos was shown a red card - the 22nd of his career - for a dangerous tackle on Lionel Messi in the 77th minute of Barcelona's 3-2 victory in El Clasico on Sunday.

Referee Hernandez Hernandez did not include in his report Ramos sarcastically applauding after he was sent off. He mentioned only that the foul was committed "with excessive force while going for the ball".

Spain defender Ramos will miss Real Madrid's away game at Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday.
