Cristiano Ronaldo proved he is human after all with a shocking miss in Real Madrid's 4-1 win at Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Searching for a hat-trick, the former Manchester United had all the time in the world to pick his spot and put the seal on Real's victory, but with just Sergio Alvarez to beat he fired wide from six yards.
Despite the miss, it was also another landmark night for Ronaldo, who scored his 367th and 368th league goals to overtake Jimmy Greaves in the all-time scorers list for Europe's top five leagues.
Ronaldo struck early in each half as Real held Celta at arm's length to ensure they need just a point from their weekend game at Malaga to win the La Liga title for the first time in five years.
The capital club head to Malaga on Sunday three points clear of Barcelona, who will retain their crown if they beat Eibar and Real lose on the south coast, due to their superior goal difference.
