Rafael van der Vaart says it is "crazy" Isco does not to start for Real Madrid and says the midfielder is the "best player in the world".
Isco has fallen out of favour under new boss Santiago Solari, finding himself out of the starting XI for seven consecutive games, until Wednesday's Copa del Rey tie against Leganes.
In an interview with Spanish publication Marca, former Real midfielder Van der Vaart admitted he was shocked by Isco's continued omission: "It's crazy for me, he is the best player in the world.
"But, he always has problems with coaches and even [Zinedine] Zidane never trusted him 100 per cent.
"When I go to watch Madrid I'll see if he starts and if not, I'm going home."

Jose Mourinho, who is without a job after being sacked by Manchester United, has long been linked with a return to the Bernabeu.
"I like him a lot because of how he is, he's very direct. In Holland we like direct people," Van der Vaart added.
"He's able to tell you that 'you don't play' and I would like to see him return to Madrid. Why not? He's 'the Special One' and he is a winner. I don't only like him as a person but as a coach, he has won a lot."
