Di Stefano: Zidane a similar player
Footballing legend Alfredo Di Stefano has admitted that Zinedine Zidane is the player most reminiscent of him in his prime - except that he was a little quicker.
Di Stefano, who was explaining why footballers need humility, admitted that style wise he felt Zidane was the closest to himself.
"The player that most reminds me of myself is Zidane," said the Real Madrid icon.
"He runs in the same way and he uses some very similar tricks.
"I was a little quicker than he is.
"He dominated possession, he has an eye for the spectacular and he has a glove in his foot."
Di Stefano explained that he has never forgotten his roots - and that this has helped him deal with his fame through life.
"There is a lot of respect for me actually," added Di Stefano.
"This is because I have always had big humility.
"If you don't have that way of being you can never make it to the highest level.
"I can walk calmly through the streets and happily sign autographs.
"The problem appears to be that the players want to hide away.
"They embrace the fame and the money, but they don't want to be seen on the streets."
Di Stefano hails from Buenos Aires and he remembers starting out by playing football in the streets.
"Every time I come to Buenos Aires I visit Barracas where I was born," adds Di Stefano.
"The first place I visit is the house where I was born, and then the streets where I used to play football with my friends."
