Becks nominates best position

David Beckham has attempted to clear up the debate about his best position.

David Beckham feels his best position is on the right side of midfield, despite his preference for operating in the centre, and has reiterated that he will not look to go into management when he hangs up his boots.

The Real Madrid midfielder plays his first club game back in his homeland since leaving Manchester United for Spain in the big UEFA Champions League clash at Arsenal on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports 1.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports' Andy Gray, Beckham spoke openly about his form and his future.

"In Madrid, I've played in the middle and played on the right," he stated. "People have said I'm great in the middle, people have said I'm much better on the right.

"This season, I've had a very good season so far.

"The assists, of course, prove that and the goals I've set up. But I think I enjoy playing in the middle, I've never hidden that fact.

"I played in centre midfield for United in the European Cup final and I enjoyed that immensely.

"People see me as a right-sided player [though], I believe that's where my best position is."

The England skipper has no intention of moving into management when he retires from the game he plays so passionately.

"Not management," he emphasised. "Definitely not.

"It's never interested me. I love being on the football pitch.

"I wouldn't like to be a manager, it's not the hard work but I think I love being a footballer - that's my passion.

"Being a manager would not be a passion for me.

"After football, I've got my academies that I've just started up and I feel very strongly about. It's a very personal thing for me that I've always wanted.

"I'm a Unicef ambassador and that's going to be a big part of my life when I finish playing, plus spending time with the kids and [wife] Victoria."
