Santander down, Levante back in fourth and Gijon win

Levante boosted their prospects of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League as Sporting Gijon kept alive their hopes of Primera Liga survival and Racing Santander were relegated. An impressive second-half display saw Levante overcome Granada 3-1 at home to move above Malaga in fourth place by virtue of a superior head-to-head record. Arouna Kone opened the scoring for Levante in the first minute of the second half, but Granada drew level on 67 minutes through Odion Ighalo. However, Xavi Torres restored the hosts' lead six minutes later and Valdo made certain of the points with the third goal on 84 minutes. Sporting Gijon closed to within four points of safety after claiming an eye-catching 3-0 triumph away to Espanyol. Adrian Colunga made the breakthrough three minutes after half-time and further goals from Oscar Trejo and substitute Mate Bilic wrapped up the win. Racing Santander's demotion from the top flight was confirmed following a 3-0 defeat away by Real Sociedad, with all the goals coming in the second half. Antoine Griezmann netted two minutes after the interval and again on 70 minutes before substitute Imanol Agirretxe got in on the act with seven minutes left. Real Mallorca moved above Getafe in the mid-table standings following a 3-1 away win over their opponents. Juan Valera hit the post for Getafe after 14 minutes, but it was Mallorca who took the lead on the half-hour through Victor. Alejandro Alfaro and substitute Tomer Hemed put Mallorca in command in the second half before Alexis notched an injury-time consolation for Getafe. Villarreal are continuing to inch towards survival following a 1-1 draw at home with Osasuna. Bruno fired Villarreal ahead a minute before half-time, but Raul Garcia's excellent finish on 72 minutes earned Osasuna a point.
