Strugglers name new coach
Primera Liga strugglers Osasuna have announced the appointment of former Real Valladolid coach Jose Luis Mendilibar as their new manager, the Pamplona club confirmed on Tuesday.
Mendilibar, 49, guided Valladolid to promotion to the Spanish top-flight in 2007 and kept the minnows there for two seasons before being sacked in February last season as the club fell back into the second division.
The appointment of Mendilibar comes less than 24 hours after former Spain national coach Jose Antonio Camacho was dismissed, with the club hierarchy losing patience after Osasuna slipped into the relegation zone following a 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
"Osasuna and Jose Luis Mendilibar have reached an agreement for him to become the new coach of Osasuna," Osasuna announced on their
official website.
"Mendilibar will be in charge until June 30, 2012 and he will be presented as manager on February 15."
