Rossi the hero for Villarreal, Osasuna upset Valencia

Villarreal came from behind to beat Getafe 2-1 at El Madrigal, while Osasuna overcame Valencia. Pedro Rios gave Getafe a shock lead just past the half hour mark with a stunning strike from the edge of the box. Villarreal drew level on the hour mark when Cani converted Santi Cazorla's pass. The home side grabbed the winner 16 minutes from time when Giuseppe Rossi headed home his 18th league goal of the season. Osasuna climbed out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Valencia. The home side secured all three points just before the hour mark when Alvaro Cejudo's shot deflected off Marius Stankevicius and into the net. The victory takes Osasuna of the drop zone, with Getafe replacing them in the bottom three. Sevilla boosted their European hopes with a 1-0 win over basement boys Almeria. Almeria were reduced to ten men on 52 minutes when Danish defender Michael Jakobsen was sent off for a wild challenge on Martin Caceres. Sevilla made their numerical advantage count when Brazilian midfielder Renato headed home. Malaga climbed further clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table with a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Hercules. Hercules got off to a flying start when Nelson Valdez fired them in front after just three minutes, but the lead proved short-lived as Julio Baptista drew Malaga level just two minutes later. Hercules suffered a blow when Matias Fritzler was sent off on 66 minutes and Malaga made them pay with two quick-fire goals from Salomon Rondon (73) and Baptista (75). Racing Santander picked up a vital three points with a 2-0 success over Real Mallorca. First-half goals from Markus Rosenberg (12) and Kennedy Bakircioglu (42) were enough to give Santander the victory. Levante and Sporting Gijon shared the spoils at the Ciutat de Valencia after a goalless draw.
