Inter Milan missed the chance to go top of Serie A after being held to a 1-1 draw at Palermo on Saturday.

Ivan Perisic opened the scoring for Roberto Mancini's side on the hour mark, but former AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino equalised shortly after as Inter were frustrated for a third week running.

Having failed to beat Juventus last week, Inter went into the game on the back of three games without a win and were ultimately frustrated by an impressive Palermo side, with Jeison Murillo sent off late on for the visitors.

The point moves Inter above Roma in the table and level with Fiorentina, who could claim a three-point lead if they beat Rudi Garcia's side on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Bologna stayed in the relegation zone despite coming from behind to beat bottom club Carpi 2-1.
