Serbian starlet signs long-term deal

Highly-rated Serbian starlet Danijel Aleksic has joined Genoa on a four-and-a-half year contract. The 18-year-old forward is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future and a number of clubs had been tracking his progress during 2009. Manchester City had a look at Aleksic on trial last summer, while Arsenal were also understood to be interested. Genoa have now won the chase for his signature, with Serbian club Vojvodina accepting an undisclosed offer. It is thought the figure is more than £2million euros as CSKA Moscow reportedly had a bid in that region rejected recently. "I am more than satisfied as the uncertainty of my future is now over," Aleksic told Sportski Zurnal. "Now it is up to me to prove myself in one of the strongest leagues in Europe."
