Mihajlovic sacked after poor start to season
Fiorentina have appointed Delio Rossi as their new coach after sacking Sinisa Mihajlovic.
The Italian club made both decisions on Monday, with Mihajlovic paying the price for the Viola's disappointing start to the 2011/12 campaign.
The Florence-based outfit are currently 13th in Serie A with 12 points from 10 matches, just four more than third-from-bottom Lecce, and have won just one of their last seven league fixtures.
Mihajlovic and Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino met on Monday evening, with the former reportedly being asked to resign.
However, the Serbian refused to do so, resulting in Fiorentina relieving him of his duties and replacing him with Rossi.
The 51-year-old Rossi has been given a contract until June 2013 and will strive to pull the club out of relegation worries.
The former Lazio and Palermo coach's first game in charge of Fiorentina will be the Serie A clash against Italian champions AC Milan in Florence on 19th November.
