Cassano quizzed as part of ongoing betting investigation
Piacenza goalkeeper Mario Cassano has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into match-fixing and illegal betting on games.
The inquiry is now at its third phase following a number of arrests in recent months that have resulted in Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni and ex-Italy striker Giuseppe Signori being jailed.
The investigation relates to allegations of match-fixing in four games in the 2008/09 and 2010/11 seasons.
Piacenza's new sporting director Carlo Regalia is not up to speed on the ins and outs of the investigation, although he has been assured by the keeper of his innocence.
The club have already been penalised four points by the Italian Football Federation, however, Regalia admits there remains a worry while the investigation continues.
Situation
"I don't know a lot about the situation, because I've only been here a month," he told
Radio Sportiva.
"The player came here one day a few weeks ago and in that day he seemed me serene and he told me to be innocent.
"Worried for Piacenza? We've been already penalised for the last season's game with Atalanta, with four penalty points.
"When there is an involvement it's normal to be worried."
