Siena hope to keep Sannino

Siena president Massimo Mezzaroma has made it clear that he wants manager Giuseppe Sannino to remain at the helm beyond the summer.

Manager linked with other clubs after impressive first year in charge

Siena president Massimo Mezzaroma has made it clear that he wants manager Giuseppe Sannino to remain at the helm beyond the summer after taking the club forward this season. Antonio Conte helped Siena win promotion last term before being recruited by Juventus, and it was predicted that Sannino would have a tough time battling against instant relegation. However, Siena have enjoyed a solid campaign and a recent run of three straight wins has taken them seven points clear of the relegation zone. Sannino has subsequently been linked with a number of other clubs, but Mezzaroma does not want to make a habit of losing his coaches.

Ideas

Mezzaroma is confident Sannino will stay at the club and would like to think they will have another year of top-flight football to look forward to. "Sannino deserves Serie A," said the president. "He's continued the work of Antonio Conte, but he's also added a lot of his own ideas. "Next season? I don't want to start a tradition of launching managers and then letting them go elsewhere. "I think that Sannino wants to stay with us for at least one more season."
