Serie A Review: Juventus rampant in 7-0 win over Parma, Roma ease to 3-0 win against Torino

Juventus reasserted their absolute authority in Serie A by humiliating Parma 7-0 in Turin on Sunday.

The league leaders could not have sent a clearer message to title rivals Roma as braces from Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata, and a fine strike from Stephan Lichtsteiner, reminded the capital club exactly what kind of machine they are daring to challenge.

Relegation-threatened Parma were brought down to earth with an almighty bump - suffering their worst ever Serie A defeat - following last weekend's inspiring victory over Inter Milan and the Gialloblu meekly returned to last place having reached 30 goals conceded from only 11 games played in an utterly dismal campaign.

Roma responded to Juventus' hammering with a convincing 3-0 home victory over Torino but the Giallorossi remain three points behind their title rivals.

Francesco Totti pulled the strings for both Vasilis Torosidis' opener and a sumptuous second-half strike from Adem Ljajic while Seydou Keita opened his account for Roma in between times.

Gonzalo Higuain fired Napoli into third place in the table with a second-half winner in a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The Azzurri made an inconsistent start to the season but will now enjoy a week in the final Champions League berth after Higuain's sixth league goal confirmed a second straight league win.

Elsewhere, Sergio Pellissier was Chievo's hero as his first two goals of the season lifted them off the foot of Serie A and above their opponents Cesena after a 2-1 win.

The 35-year-old, who has been reduced to little more than a watching brief this season, sprang from the bench to put Chievo in front early in the second half.

The former Italy international then grabbed a last-minute winner, just two minutes after Milan Djuric thought he had earned Cesena a point with his first goal of the campaign.

Empoli snapped a three-game losing streak to inflict Lazio's first defeat in seven matches with a 2-1 win at the Stadio Castellini.

Federico Barba put the Tuscan side in front on the hour mark, with Massimo Maccarone doubling their lead soon after.

Filip Djordjevic pulled a goal back for the Biancocelesti but they were unable to find an equaliser as they missed an opportunity to move level with Roma in second.

Inter Milan were held to a 2-2 draw by Hellas Verona after Nicolas Lopez scored an 89th-minute equaliser.

Verona had taken the lead through Luca Toni's 10th-minute goal but that was cancelled out by Mauro Icardi, who scored again early in the second half.

Inter looked set for victory until Lopez found a late leveller with a strike from the right of the box.

Paulo Dybala scored one penalty and missed another as Palermo dominated a 1-1 draw with Udinese at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

The in-form Argentinian striker cancelled out Cyril Thereau's early opener from the spot just before the break and worked hardest in the pursuit of a winning goal for the Sicilians.

Ten-man Genoa missed an opportunity to win four consecutive league games for the first time since 2009 and were lucky to take a point from a 1-1 draw at Cagliari.

Mattia Perin had to save a late penalty from Danilo Avelar to deny Cagliari their first home victory of the season after Diego Farias' early opener was cancelled out by an own goal from Luca Rossetini.
