MONTERO BANNED AFTER TV TRIAL
PAOLO MONTERO has been suspended for three matches after he was found guilty of punching Luigi Di Biagio during Juventus's 2-2 draw with Internazionale at the Guiseppe Meazza stadium on Sunday.
"It confirms what I was told in the changing rooms," commented Di Biagio afterwards. "Montero is not the brightest of people."
The referee missed the incident but television footage captured the offence by Montero and he has now become the latest player to feel the force of this belated justice.
The Italian football authorities have been using television evidence since the start of last season and, unlike their English counterparts, they take action regardless of the referee's report.
