Laurent Blanc the latest name to be linked with coach's job

Claudio Ranieri remains optimistic that he will be Inter Milan coach for the rest of the season and is confident of turning the tide. Inter have failed to win in their last nine matches and lie seventh in Serie A, 11 points adrift of a qualification place for next season's UEFA Champions League. The Nerazzurri only have this term's Champions League as a realistic option for silverware, but trail Marseille 1-0 from their first-leg meeting last month. Reports have claimed that, if Ranieri fails to guide Inter through to the quarter-finals next week, he will be axed by president Massimo Moratti. The Inter supremo has already denied offering former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas the job, while France coach Laurent Blanc is the latest name to have been linked with the position.

Determined

However, ahead of Friday's game against Chievo Verona, Ranieri is targeting a win which he hopes will be the catalyst for a positive end to the campaign. "If we win it will be a good boost for the (Champions League)," said Ranieri. "We've got 70 days (until the end of the season) to turn the situation around. "This isn't a positive season for Inter but we have to roll up our sleeves. We just need a bit more determination to turn the wheel full circle. "We're in Italy, I know how things work. "I feel good and over the years you will get to know me. Right now, I'm fired up, determined, decisive and full of desire."
