Vucinic and Mexes find target in 2-0 win over Udinese

Roma overcame Udinese 2-0 in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final to take command of the tie. Having slipped towards the drop zone in Serie A, Udinese had been hoping the clash would provide a distraction from their poor league campaign. However, Roma have been in superb form and, seemingly inspired by the return from injury of captain Francesco Totti, were quickly into their stride at the Stadio Olimpico. It took just 12 minutes for the Giallorossi to break the deadlock as Montenegrin forward Mirko Vucinic latched onto Daniele De Rossi's pass and struck past Samir Handanovic. Philippe Mexes then doubled Roma's advantage with a header five minutes before half-time and Udinese were not able to respond. Inter Milan beat Fiorentina 1-0 in the first leg of the other semi-final on Wednesday.
