Laursen to stay with Milan

More from Football

MILAN vice-president Adriano Galliani has insisted that Danish star Martin Laursen will remain with the club next season.

Galliani met up with Laursen to discuss the future and both parties left the meeting in a positive mood.

"On Thursday, we met with Martin Laursen and his agent and agreed on the fact that he will definitely stay with Milan next season," said Galliani.

Laursen has found his opportunities limited somewhat by the presence of Milan icon Paolo Maldini, and had considered asking to be loaned out next year, but was delighted to be told he can contribute.

"The meeting has been very positive," said Laursen.

"The club insisted that they have great faith in me and that they want me for next season.

"This is obviously a huge pleasure for me.

"I am not sure how long Maldini can go on. I am more worried about giving my best when the coach calls me up.

"I think I will have the possibility to give something to this Milan side as well."
