Papastathopoulos wants to play European football next season
On-loan Werder Bremen defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has not yet decided if he wants to stay at Weserstadion on a permanent basis.
The Genoa player moved to Germany on a season-long loan and has been a first-team regular for Thomas Schaaf's side.
Bremen, who sit sixth in the Bundesliga, have already
confirmed they want to activate a £3million (€2.5m) to-buy option in Papastathopoulos' loan contract.
But the Greece international has not yet made a decision on his future and he wants to see if Bremen qualify for Europe before making any commitment.
Enquiries
Papastathopoulos told
Bild: "On paper, it might be a fact I would have to stay on if Werder Bremen exercises the buy option.
"But we need to talk to each other first. Chances are 50-50. It will also depend on me.
"If a player is unhappy, he cannot stay on. And I am able to confirm I have received enquiries from other clubs."
Papastathopoulos added: "To know we would be playing in a European club competition with Werder Bremen next season is important for me.
"Playing at least in the Europa League would keep me happy."
