Strike duo set to stay with Wolves
Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath is already making plans for the summer after revealing he hopes to stay at the club on a long-term basis.
Magath won the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg in 2009 before leaving to join Schalke but returned to the club in March 2011.
And he intends for this spell with the Wolves to be a lengthy one.
"I want to work long-term at Wolfsburg," Magath told
Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper. "This is the agreement I have with the directors of the club.
"This makes me believe I am to serve as manager at Wolfsburg until June 2013. And even beyond that then."
Strike duo
And Magath intends the strike duo of Mario Mandzukic and Patrick Helmes to be part of that future with Wolfsburg.
The 25-year-old Mandzukic has netted 12 goals for the Wolves this season, while Helmes, a January 2011 signing from Leverkusen, has fired eight goals for the club.
Recent reports suggested Magath was planning to offload the duo in the summer but the 58-year-old boss has emphatically denied these claims.
"This is not true," he told
Norddeutscher Rundfunk media. "Both players are on contracts that are to last beyond the end of the season.
"From this point of view both players are to stay with us. We do not have the ambition to part company with these players.
"We are not going to make any big changes to the first-team squad."
