Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed manager Jupp Heynckes can extend his contract, should he want to stay.
Bayern boss could be offered new deal stretching beyond 2013
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed manager Jupp Heynckes will be offered a new deal, should he want to stay.
Heynckes returned to the Bundesliga giants for a third spell last summer on a two-year contract.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on the league title to Borussia Dortmund, they have reached the final of the German Cup and will face Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League final in their own stadium on May 19th.
Following the team's exploits this season Rummenigge has revealed he is prepared to offer Heynckes a new deal if he wants to stay.
Should the veteran coach decline the offer of a new deal Rummenigge is certain the 66-year-old will still fulfill his current contract and not resign even if Bayern win the Champions League next month.
"Jupp is a different kettle of fish, he doesn't think like that," Rummenigge told
Bild.
"Jupp is a special character in that respect.
"If he wants to, he can remain longer than his contract which expires in 2013."
