Jos Luhukay became the fourth manager to be sacked in the Bundesliga this season after being dismissed by Hertha Berlin, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The 51-year-old was shown the door after the 1-0 defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday left them second from bottom.

It was their third straight defeat, with Hertha bidding to avoid their third relegation from Germany's top flight since 2010.

Berlin are away to Mainz on Saturday, and former player Pal Dardai and ex-assistant coach Rainer Widmayer are tipped to take charge as caretaker coaches.

Luhukay is the fourth Bundesliga manager to be dismissed this campaign after Werder Bremen's Robin Dutt in October, Hamburg's Mirko Slomka in September and Jens Keller at Schalke in October.
