Centre-back leaves PSV for Bundesliga side
Mexican defender Francisco Javier Rodriguez has joined Bundesliga side Stuttgart from PSV Eindhoven for an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old centre-back departs after three seasons at PSV, having notched up 60 appearances for the Eredivisie club.
Rodriguez, nicknamed Maza, underwent a medical in Stuttgart on Thursday before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal which will keep him at the Mercedes Benz Arena until June 2014.
Stuttgart general manager Fredi Bobic told the club's official website: "After losing Mathieu Delpierre to injury we were out to sign one more player in that position.
"Maza is fully aware of the standards of the game in Europe and will therefore not require any warm-up time."
Rodriguez added: "Personally the transfer from PSV to Stuttgart is a new challange. Stuttgart is a big club with a high reputation inside and outside Germany."
PSV are thought to be eyeing FC Copenhagen stopper Mathias 'Zanka' Jorgensen as a replacement for Rodriguez.
