Dortmund beat Bayern, last-gasp wins for Hannover and Mainz

Borussia Dortmund took a giant stride towards winning the Bundesliga after an impressive win away to reigning champions Bayern Munich. Hannover and Mainz remain in the hunt for UEFA Champions League qualification following late wins away from home. Cologne climbed further clear of trouble by edging out Freiburg at home, while Kaiserslautern and Schalke were held at home by Hamburg and Nurnberg respectively. Leaders Dortmund are now 16 points clear of title holders Bayern following a stunning 3-1 victory at the Allianz Arena. Lucas Barrios gave Dortmund the perfect start by scoring after nine minutes, only for Bayern to level on 16 minutes through Luis Gustavo. However, the visitors were back in front two minutes later through Nuri Sahin before Mats Hummels' goal on the hour mark put the match beyond Bayern's reach. Christian Schulz scored an 89th minute winner as Hannover won 1-0 away to St Pauli to move within a point of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Mainz, meanwhile, nicked a 2-1 victory away to Hoffenheim thanks to Elkin Soto's 86th minute winner. Eugen Polanski hit the post for Mainz on 21 minutes and the visitors were ahead two minutes later through Andreas Ivanschitz. Hoffenheim appeared set to claim a point when David Alaba equalised on 83 minutes, but Soto struck decisively just three minutes later. Lukas Podolski fired home a minute from time to move Cologne away from trouble thanks to a 1-0 home triumph over Freiburg. Schalke were forced to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Nurnberg thanks to Raul's second-half equaliser. Nurnberg had taken a 37th minute lead through Jens Hegeler before Spanish legend Raul popped up seven minutes after half-time to equalise. Kaiserslautern failed to significantly improve their survival prospects after letting the lead slip to draw 1-1 at home with Hamburg. Adam Hlousek had given the hosts the lead on 18 minutes, but Marcell Jansen's 54th minute effort secured a point for Hamburg.
