General manager commits to BayArena stay until 2017
Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a new long-term contract with general manager Rudi Voller.
The former Leverkusen striker and boss, 51, has committed to a deal at BayArena which runs until the summer of 2017.
And ex-Germany manager Voller is delighted to have signed the extension ahead of the end of the season, when his previous contract was set to expire, and he is making plans for strengthening the squad.
Rudi Voller told his club's
official website: "Overall, I have been at Bayer Leverkusen almost 15 years. I am enjoying my spell here.
"We have achieved a lot in those years, but still we are able to make further progress. To be a big player in the Bundesliga and Europe, we are already thinking of signings for the coming years.
Know-how
"This will be like it has been in the past, an exciting task."
Leverkusen chairman Werner Wenning and club executive Wolfgang Holzhauser hope Voller's stay can aid progress and bring in trophies.
Wenning said: "We have decided to prolong with Rudi Voller as an act of continuity.
"We are fully convinced Mr. Voller will be able to further lead Bayer Leverkusen with his know-how in a good working partnership with the executives of Bayer."
Holzhauser said: "I am enjoying working with Rudi Voller, it is a splendid cooperation. We want to ensure the club is making further progress on the highest level.
"Therefore we are in the need of an ongoing process of strengthening the team. It's because we want to finally win the club new trophies."
