Ajax reduced the gap to Eredivisie leaders PSV to seven points following a hard-fought 2-1 victory against FC Twente.

Justin Kluivert broke the deadlock after just three minutes for the hosts with a close-range finish following a neat touch from Donny van de Beek at the far post.

A fast break from Twente saw Adnane Tighadouini level the score in the second half after great work from striker Tom Boere before squaring to the Moroccan to drill home, but Lasse Schone secured maximum points for Ajax with his ninth goal of the season from the penalty spot.

Nine-man Feyenoord suffered a 3-1 loss against Vitesse to fall further behind the chasing pack at GelreDome.

The reigning league champions took a 21st-minute lead through Tonny Vilhena after a lightning counter-attack, but parity was restored two minutes before half-time when Guram Kashia headed home from three yards.

Bilal Basacikoglu was dismissed for a dangerous tackle on Thulani Serero after 65 minutes and the hosts took immediate advantage with Bryan Linssen nodding in Roy Beerens' wayward shot.

Tyrell Malacia was shown a straight red card for another reckless challenge on Beerens with nine minutes left before Linssen headed home once more to wrap up the points for Vitesse.
